Stitch Marker GIVEAWAY!

July8

I am looking for color combination ideas that might appeal to people out there, so I’m looking for your input. And to add some extra excitement, I’d like to offer 2 Sets of 12 Custom Made Stitch Markers to the winner of an RNG drawing! Although my clown barf stitch markers are quite the hit, I would love to hear what other color combinations people are craving. I have access to most colors out there, so go crazy; I’m up for FUN!

So here are the rules –
1) Add your comment to this Blog Post by 9pm PST on July 15th, 2011. One comment per color combination. Tell me what color combinations you crave and what size you prefer – if you prefer a size larger than what I already carry, let me know.

2) Make a purchase from my etsy shop anytime from now until 9pm PST on July 15th, 2011. Each purchase counts as a separate entry!

3) Tell people about this giveaway on your blog/Facebook page/Ravelry group/Tweet – Just be sure to link my blog to the page and leave a comment here with a link to the comment or earburn me at PurpleGoddess (for Rav entries) or @PrplGdsDesign(twitter) for proof so I can be sure you get all the entries you work so hard to get!

A lucky winner will be chosen by the RNG (Random Number Generator) after July 15th!

I’m hoping for as many suggestions as possible so help me get the word out!

I would love to see Sky/water/sun colors.. Aqua/Yellow/Blue

  2. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:11 am Indulgence Says:

I would also like to see colors that remind me of the woods… greens/browns

  3. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:17 am Judi A. Says:

I love your markers. My first thought was red, white,&blue – I guess because of the recent holiday. Then I saw you already have made some in those colors, but how about all silver rings with red, white&blue beads. You could also get into Halloween colors of black & orange, and the fall//thanksgiving colors of rust, green, yellow, etc. And then, of course, are college colors (which would be endless and possibly drive you crazy!) and the professional football teams’ colors. What would I personnally like? – pink is my favorite color, so you’ve already taken care of that:-) I would prefer a mixture of sizes in one set.

any combination of purple and orange would suit a very dear friend of mine

  5. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:24 am Knitmish on Ravelry Says:

I love your rainbow stitch markers, and I think it would be great to have a rainbow of earthy colours, for example start with a some different yellows, then oranges, reds, and end with browns. Since you have sets of 12, maybe find 3 different shades of each? I think that would be great!

  6. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:27 am Knitmish on Ravelry Says:

I would also love to see something with shades of greens and blues, maybe call it the “turtle” set?? It would be nice and summery :)

  7. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:30 am Knitmish on Ravelry Says:

Another combination that I have always loved, and is quite bold: purple and orange!! And I forgot to add to the other two comments my thoughts on size: I make a lot of shawls in heavier yarn, and it would be nice to have stitch markers at fit needles in sizes US 9, 10, and 10.5 !!

  8. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:31 am Knittingdancer on Ravelry Says:

I would like to see a set of purple, hot pink, and lime green. I can’t think of a name for it. I would also like to see one in fall colors, orange, yellow, dark green, etc.

  9. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:36 am Lauren Says:

I love purple and teal or black and anything bright.

    Love those stitch markers!

  10. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:51 am Heather Says:

I love brown and blue. I also love the idea of several sizes in the set that could be handy.

  11. On July 8th, 2011 at 9:58 am Heather Says:

I also think a range of one color in a set. Like blue ranging from almost white through to navy not sure what color the rings should be.

  12. On July 8th, 2011 at 10:14 am Kara Says:

I like fire colors. Reds, oranges, yellows, and maybe pinks or browns, or even light blue or purple for contrast (those colors are in fire too!). And I’ll second the vote on different sizes. I especially have trouble finding stitch markers that will fit on size 10+ needles, and have to pull out my ugly vintage plastic stitch markers when I knit on big needles like that.

  13. On July 8th, 2011 at 10:21 am Peppermint Mocha Mama Says:

My favorite color combination is pink and chocolate brown but I can never find any so I always get the plain old plastic boring ones. I too have difficulty finding stitch markers for anything over a size 10 needle so that would be spiffy as well.

  14. On July 8th, 2011 at 10:40 am Emily Says:

I actually think pearly white stitch markers would be cool because they’d contrast with so many yarns. But I mostly love shades of blue and green. Might also be fun to come up with a series so that every month you have a new set inspired by that month’s gemstone.

I tweeted about your giveaway @knittingviolets.

  16. On July 8th, 2011 at 11:12 am Alexis Says:

I love browns/pinks and browns/blues. I guess I’m thinking of cute baby color combos since I’m in the middle of making 3 different baby presents!!
I love your rainbow stitch marker sets!!

  17. On July 8th, 2011 at 11:30 am Sandra Larose Says:

I prefer earthy colours, green, brown, rust with a dash of fiery red. Great markers!

  18. On July 8th, 2011 at 12:10 pm Turtle Says:

Adore your rainbow colors but also love the contrast color combos… a bit of purple/orange. Blue/orange or green. Green/purple or yellow. Sizes up to needle 8 are my favorite! :)

  19. On July 8th, 2011 at 12:14 pm Carmen Says:

I’m not sure if I like your Full Monty Rainbow or Blue Hawaii the best. Either way, those are great stitch markers!

I would love colors to remind me of the leaves in fall: yellow, orange, green.

Thanksgiving is such a special holiday that a Thanksgiving color scheme would be very welcome: pumpkin, squash, nutmeg, and cinnamon come to mind.

What about neapolitan? (And other ice cream colors. Mmmm ice cream.)

  28. On July 8th, 2011 at 1:52 pm Zabbers Says:

I’d also love to see grayscale markers, say a gradient from white to black. I don’t know whether you can get lots of different grays, but I think that’d look classy.

  29. On July 8th, 2011 at 1:55 pm Zabbers Says:

A tropical rainbow (like tropical skittles) would be fun too.

  30. On July 8th, 2011 at 2:08 pm Zabbers Says:

I could keep making suggestions forever! But I’ll restrain myself to this last one (at least unless something really inspiring strikes me): various “metal”s–gold, bronze, silver, etc., perhaps accentuated with the occasional “gem” of a jewel-tone bead.

By the way I prefer the mini size!

  31. On July 8th, 2011 at 2:12 pm InJuneau Says:

I love blues and teals, so a set in that combination would be cool. Also, earthy/autumn colors–red, orange, rust, yellow. I often need stitch markers for a project on size 13 needles, so ones that go up to that size/a little larger would be great.

What about a mixed drink theme?

Brown with beige or white for a mudslide
Lime and Yellow for a margarita
Red with orange for bloody mary
Blue and green for blue curacao

I would love to see stitch markers like these in smaller sizes. Most of the stitch markers I find to use with my lace projects dangle and tend to get in the way.

I’m a Canadian living abroad and red and white usually reminds me of our flag. I would think that many people would like the colours in their flags. I only have one set in a larger size so if I need more I use the rejected links from my son’s chain mail!

    Hi,

I love all the colours of your stitch markers… markers in bright, bold colours would be great – how about in VIBGYOR? the colours of the rainbow? they’d add more colour to any project!

I’d love to see a baby pink or a baby blue set, for when I’m knitting baby things. Or a metallic set – silver or gold or copper or bronze. Or perhaps Silver set with a hematite gemstone. Very classy, I think that would be. :-)

Silver or gold with gemstone-like beads would be really pretty- it would be like putting jewelry in your knitting!

It might be nice to have a set with all of the same kind, except for one stitchmarker that is different- For example, a set with blue rings with a purple bead, and one marker with a purple ring and a blue bead. I know I like to have one stitchmaker that’s different from the others when I’m knitting in the round to mark where the beginning of the round is.

Another idea is that you might want to offer custom ones- that way, people could order them in whatever color they wanted.
